Providence Country Day School, an independent school serving students in grades PK-12, seeks a dynamic, versatile leader who will serve as a full-time Athletics Assistant and Athletic Trainer in the Middle and Upper Schools.
The Athletics Assistant and Athletic Trainer plays a vital dual role in student-athlete health and athletic program operations at Providence Country Day. As an athletic trainer, the role includes providing on-site care during practices and home games to ensure student-athlete safety, injury prevention, and rehabilitation support. As an athletics assistant, the position supports home game operations, event staffing, and communication between coaches, families, and school leadership.
This is a highly collaborative, mission-aligned position for someone who is passionate about student well-being, detail-oriented event management, and fostering a positive and safe athletic environment.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training required, Master’s degree preferred.
Current Board of Certification (BOC) as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
Current CPR/AED certification.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as an athletic trainer in a high school or collegiate setting.
Experience in athletic administration or game/event management preferred.
Strong knowledge of injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for adolescent athletes.
Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly in high-pressure situations.
Proficient in using athletic training equipment and technology.
Committed to ongoing professional development in sports medicine and athletic operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Athletic Training Duties
Provide prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for student-athlete injuries across all sports.
Respond to injuries during practices and games with appropriate emergency care.
Conduct concussion testing and return to play protocol.
Develop individualized rehabilitation plans and collaborate with coaches on progress and return timelines.
Maintain complete and accurate records of injuries and treatment in compliance with legal and school standards.
Educate athletes and coaches on injury prevention, conditioning, and healthy practices.
Collaborate with the school nurse to track physicals and other pertinent paperwork.
Athletics Assistant Duties
Assist with supervision and coordination of all home athletic events.
Create and maintain the database of team rosters
Coordinate transportation to and from offsite athletic events
Oversee game-day logistics including setup, equipment, safety, and event breakdown.
Support the scheduling and supervision of event staff (scorekeepers, timers, security, etc.).
Partner with communications office to run athletics social media page
Coordinate distribution and collection of team uniforms and equipment.
Communicate with coaches, officials, and families to ensure smooth event operations.
Ensure student-athletes follow health and safety protocols during events.
Foster a positive environment for athletes, families, and guests.
General Responsibilities
Collaborate with coaches, faculty, and school staff to support the holistic development of student-athletes.
Stay current on best practices in athletic training, student health, and event management.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
