  • Evening PCD PA meeting in March
  • Follow up from last meeting:
    • Dance upper school – we had that last weekend
    • Dress code- administration is working on “do’s and don’ts” list
    • Middle school dance- social was the substitute for now
  • Public thank you to Bethany Sutton and Sarah Bates for their commitment and continuous generosity with their time in making the PCD community what it is
  • Would love volunteers for teacher appreciation week, please let Melissa know if you are interested (at end of year)

  • Open House in October- thank you to all the volunteers
  • Return to normalcy- Middle school social/ Upper school dance, Field Trips
  • Cross Country boys/girls TWO banners!
  • Girls’ soccer won last night in Semi-Finals, Championship this weekend
  • Girls Volleyball- Playoff game 11/9 5:00pm
  • Fencing Academy- nice visit Friday to watch the kids engaged in the sport
  • Thanks to the music department, URI basketball game- Choir will be singing at the game
  • Middle School Dance- understand this is a hallmark, will reach out to other school heads and see if this is something we can make happen, suggestions welcome
  • Middle School- Johnson Thomas, Jen Caletri, Kevin working with kids on some social media challenges that have arisen both boys and girls.
  1. Athletics Update- Marquis Harper
  • Middle School:  Div Champions for Cross Country!
  • Middle School: Tennis will be a new option this year (fee associated of $250.00)
  • Considering a Middle School swim team also
  • 99% Upper School 2021-2022 made to post-season, we are ontrack again this year
  • Thanks to the PCD Parent Association- recently purchased polos for the coaches and 4 portable basketball hoops 
  1. Admissions Update- Melanie Parsons
  • PCD sponsored Roger Williams Zoo “Boo at the Zoo” really fun for the school
  • Open House Henry Barnard, fantastic turn out, increased turn out from last year
  • Open House PCD, thank you for all the volunteers and spreading the word
  • New Financial Aide System- new system should only take 15 minutes.  Email coming with link when live, should be next week or week after some time.  Will not be using SSS any longer
  1. Development, October Challenge, Holiday Tea, and more- Mark McLaughlin
  • October Challenge- Parent support and faculty is the backbone of the school and it was/ is evident currently.  Thank you for the support
  • Holiday Tea Thursday December 15th.  Middle school 12noon and Upper school 2:30pm.  Will be a wonderful afternoon
  • Hot Club Providence Friday December 16th - hoping all will come!
  • Saturday December 21st, time TBD-Alumni Basketball Game in Field House
  • Melissa Dick, last day was November 4th- search underway to fill the position.
  1. Treasurer Update- Jennifer Cox
  • PCA Parent Association Dues were billed to 243 families.  If everyone participates that would equate to$17,000- $18,000.  Association will take a vote soon and possibly be able to increase the dollar amount provided to Holiday Tea.
  • Welcome back barbeque, parent socials, holiday tea, world arts day, teacher appreciation, year end events for students
  • Booster Account- school is managing that account with support from Sarah Bates
  • PCD PA monies recently: Corkery Lighting for visual arts, polo shirts, uniforms, basketball hoops so far.  We have ~$2,000 left and have reached out band, chorus, theater to see if there is anything they would like.
  1. Bookstore News and Holiday Tea update-Bethany Sutton
  • Thank you to all that helped the Book Store at Chowder Day!  We made an incredible amount of money that day!  More than ever 😊
  • Will need volunteers for upcoming events in which merchandise will be available – Holiday Tea, Grandparents Day etc
  • Holiday Tea- Gym is turned into a “winter wonderland” all done by parent volunteers.  Very pretty and fun, usually need a decorating morning/afternoon day before.  Need help with signups- especially afterward breakdown/clean up.  We will be putting a sign-up on the Sunday Emails coming up.
 
Suggestion for next meeting:  we could have a presentation about the ongoing charitable programs that are happening at the school
