Robotics Camp: Exploring How Robots Work
Campers will learn how robots work by building scale model projects and competing in robot game challenges. We will start by building a demo model robot with LEGO Mindstorm kits in order to practice programming a robot. The first game challenge will be to build a LEGO Sumobot in order to compete in a sumo wrestling robot event. Through Sumobot, campers explore ways to apply engineering design principles to modify and improve the performance of the Sumobot.
We will also explore building VEX robots that work with a remote control device in order to build a mobile robot that includes a robotic arm. The VEX Clawbot is based on step-by-step building instructions and features a robotic arm and a claw for gripping objects. The Clawbot will be put to the test in a friendly competition based on stacking colored blocks.
Throughout the week campers take time to learn about trends in the robotics field by exploring new technologies.
Learn how robots work by building models, problem solving, creative design and, most importantly, having fun!
