Celebrating a Banner Fall Athletics Season

It’s been a banner season for PCD’s fall athletic teams - with four varsity state and league championships, one junior varsity championship and multiple athletes recognized for their individual achievements.
The championships started with the boys and girls cross country teams - with the boys winning their fourth straight SENE championship and the girls taking home their second in a row. Brady J. ’25 and Maggie H. ’25 were also named the SENE male and female runners of the year!

In girls volleyball, both the JV and varsity teams earned Division 4 state titles, with the varsity team defeating Hope High School 3-0 in the final round of the state tournament on November 12. That same day, girls soccer also won the Division 4 state title, defeating Rogers High School 2-0. In addition, girls soccer players Lily A. ’23 and Anna S. ’24 were selected to play in the state girls soccer all-star game.

The boys soccer team also made it to the playoffs, losing a close game against Blackstone Valley Prep in the Division 4 quarterfinals. The girls tennis team competed in the playoffs as well, losing to Scituate in the Division 3 quarterfinals. Caroline D. ’23 and Emma D. ’24 competed in the state singles tournament, with Emma making it to quarterfinals as well as earning All-State honors, while Sophia S. ’23 and Yutong L. ’23 competed in the doubles tournament.

“I’m very pleased at the success that our programs have had this season,” said PCD Athletic Director Marquis Harper. “It’s great to continue on the success we had last year, when 99% of our teams went to the postseason. We continued that trend in the fall with several league and state championships. This speaks to the dedication of our students, coaches and the community as a whole.”

After such a successful fall season, PCD is looking forward to the upcoming winter and spring seasons!
