Upper Schoolers Perform "Othello" at the Vets for Shakespeare in the City

Four Upper Schoolers – Isaiah Britto '19, Dante Darden '20, Leo Farrelly '20, and Zooey Martin '20 – performed a scene of Shakespeare's Othello last night at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence as part of Shakespeare in the City. Founded by Lincoln School English Teacher Martha Douglas-Osmundson, the local award-winning theater program allows Providence-area students to each perform a part of a Shakespeare play together by revolving cast members per scene.

Shakespeare in the City began in 2009 and has grown each year in student participants. This year, more than 20 Providence-area schools performed including approximately 250 students. Britto has performed in the program four times, his first performance as a sixth grader. The program offers local talented student actors like Britto, Darden, Farrelly, and Martin an opportunity to enjoy a unique acting performance, says PCD performing arts teacher Lindsay Soson. The group performed Act 4, Scene 1 of the tragic Shakespeare story. They were also stars in the PCD Players production of Mid Summer's Night Dream last year.
