PCD Artists Take Regional Honors in Scholastic Art Awards

From a pool of hundreds of talented student artists throughout the state, 10 PCD students were named 2019 Rhode Island Scholastic Art Award Winners. Led by the Rhode Island Art Education Association, the annual competition recognizes artists for work that demonstrates originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Each art teacher in the state is invited to submit up to six pieces of work for consideration.

Winners this year are:

Anna Oliveira, Gold Key, Ceramics and Glass
Junlin Jay Xie, Silver Key, Sculpture
Cam Yee, Silver Key, Photography

Class of 2020
Wolfgang Curl, Gold Key, Photography
Liana Littell, Honorable Mention, Photography
Sophie Robinson, Silver Key, Photography

Class of 2021
Luke Mello, Honorable Mention, Photography

Class of 2023
Livia Greenberg, Silver Key, Printmaking
Drew Harris, Gold Key, Mixed Media

The winners will be celebrated at a special ceremony held Sunday, February 3 at the Bazarsky Lecture Hall at Salve Regina University. Each artist will have their work featured at the Hamilton Gallery at Salve Regina University from February 3 – 17. As Gold Key Winners, four students - Stephanie DaCruz, Anna Oliveira, Wolfgang Curl, and Drew Harris – will continue to the national competition in New York.
