The Boys Varsity Soccer team earned its first win in league play, defeating Westerly Thursday afternoon at PCD. The Knights jumped all over the Bulldogs early as Jake Walker '15 opened the scoring in the first minute of play. Later in the half, John Greene '15 netted his first of two goals, giving the home team a 2-0 halftime lead. The offensive pressure did not let up after the break as both Walker '15 and Greene '15 each scored again early on to double PCD's advantage. Justin Larose '15 earned his first shutout of the young season, keeping the ball out of the net early despite a relentless Westerly attack in the first half. Team captain Tom Horvat '14 knew that their opponents were going to come at them from the opening whistle, adding "Westerly played us very hard in the first half so we had to slowly gain control, but once we did, we didn't let go." Fellow team captain Nick DeBlasio '14 was impressed by his team's ability to score, "We had trouble finishing our chances the first two games, so if we can play like we did today, we are going to get a lot more wins." The Knights will be back on the pitch away against Mt. Pleasant on 9/16.

PCD Goal Scorers:

Jake Walker '15 (3), John Greene '15 (2), Nick DeBlasio '14, Tom Horvat '14
