NEW PCD LEAPP Camp

As part of PCD A&E Camp, young artists ages 11-15 engage in art making and leadership development throughout each session of the Leadership and the Environmental Art Portfolio Project (LEAPP Camp). Campers will have a daily combined experience of intensive studio time and leadership skill building. Both challenging and rewarding, leadership skills enhance a young teen’s experience with the world around them and empower them to dig deeper and think more broadly. Intense studio time will give each artist the opportunity to create meaningful artwork, while skills like first aid, nature education, teaching, and interpersonal communication will establish a foundation for hands-on leadership. Campers set up their own workspace and visually explore environmentally inspired subjects using three-dimensional and two-dimensional media. This supervised setting allows campers to search for their own visual languages. Campers are invited to register for 1, 2, 3, or all 4 weeks. Ages 12-15

PCD CSI Camp

Aspiring forensic scientists learn how to secure and process a "crime scene" by collecting and analyzing evidence. Skills like fingerprinting, latent print processing, and making and analyzing shoe and teeth impressions will be developed to help students build a body of  eveidence that will lead to scientifically informed conclusions. Campers will also analyze forensic glass, hair, fiber, and blood spatter patterns, as well as perform presumptive blood testing on evidence collected at "the scene." Budding scientists and puzzlers will love rolling up their sleeves and applying new skills to real problems. Ages 10–14

PCD Culinary Camp

A hands-on culinary camp for children ages 10–14, taught by veteran professional PCD chef, Sharon LeBeau.  Each day focuses on a different food course (soups, salads and appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts), with emphasis on nutrition, history, food science, flavor profiling and layering, and presentation. Campers spend the mornings cooking, they eat their meals at mid-day, and then head out to a different field trip site to visit local farms and professional kitchens Monday through Wednesday. Campers prepare a feast for family and friends on the Friday of each session. Teams enable campers to experience a wider range of dishes and techniques.
