PCD’s close proximity to the Rhode Island School of Design and Providence’s vibrant artistic community makes the School an ideal location for an Artist-in-Residence Program. For the week preceding World Arts Day in March, an artist is invited to practice his/her craft at PCD. Talks and demonstrations are scheduled for art classes and for other curious students, and the artist works throughout the day in a public space where students can observe the techniques and materials used in the artistic process. The artist also leads workshops, during which students explore the artist’s medium and style first hand. These workshops are also incorporated into the World Arts Day curriculum.
