Since 1923, students have been coming to The Providence Country Day School from a variety of backgrounds to benefit from our challenging college preparatory program under the direction of exceptional faculty who are committed to their success. They become active members of a close knit community held together by our core values of honesty, respect, intellectual curiosity, commitment and participation, hard work, diversity, and teamwork. Each year our community is enriched by the contributions of talented and motivated students, who value the deep student-teacher relationships that are an essential part of our ethos—relationships that not only enable students to cultivate existing passions, but inspire them to discover new ones.
Families are quick to recognize the value of PCD’s unique character and the high quality of a PCD education. At the same time, they may have questions about managing the financial commitment that attendance will require; we know that the cost of attending a private school means making a significant investment in a child’s education and future. Understanding that every applicant’s situation is unique, we are committed to working with each family to determine the best way to make a PCD education affordable.
It is important that families not let concerns about tuition costs prevent them from learning more about PCD. Each year, after working with the Director of Financial Aid, many families are pleased to discover that they are able to manage this investment in their children’s education. Last year, for example, PCD allocated more than $1,300,000 in financial aid to assist 40% of our student body. Awards ranged in amounts from $2,500 to $25,000. The average grant was $14,300.
To be considered for financial aid, a family must demonstrate financial need. This requires that parents submit the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) to School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS), where the financial information is analyzed. Tax Documents (The IRS 1040 including all schedules) must also be sumbitted directly to SSS. The results of the financial analysis along with copies of the tax documents are then sent electronically to PCD by SSS for the Financial Aid Committee to review. Financial aid decisions are mailed simultaneously with admissions decisions.
