Q: What does a completed PCD Financial Aid application consist of
?
A: In order to be considered for financial aid, the following documents must be submitted to School and Student Services (SSS):
  1. The Parents' Financial Statement (PFS)
  2. A copy of your most recent Federal 1040 tax form and W2 wage statements.  These forms should be submitted online to SSS through the following link: sss.nais.org.  If you prefer to complete a hard copy of the PFS or submit tax documents directly to PCD please contact the Financial Aid Office at (401) 438-5170 x102.

Q: Does Providence Country Day School offer scholarships?
A: No. The word scholarship suggests that a financial aid grant is made on the basis of a student’s academic or personal qualifications. At PCD, all financial aid is allocated on the basis of a family’s demonstrated financial need as established by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and PCD’s Financial Aid Committee.

Q: How much money can a family earn and still qualify for financial aid?
A: It depends. Your family’s unique financial circumstances including factors such as income, assets, and the number of children enrolled in tuition-charging institutions, play an important role in determining if you qualify for financial aid.

Q: If we apply on time, are accepted for admission and qualify for aid, do we automatically receive a financial aid award?
A: No. Each year, despite PCD’s generous financial aid budget, the demand for financial assistance exceeds available funds. The Admissions and Financial Aid Committees determine which applicants receive aid based on the availability of funds and our enrollment needs. Each year the Financial Aid Committee places a small number of students on a financial aid waiting list.

Q: If we receive a financial aid award the first year, do we receive aid in subsequent years?
A: Yes, assuming you still demonstrate financial need. All families who receive financial aid must file a new PFS with SSS by February 1 each year. PCD attempts to keep a family’s award at a similar level each year as long as no major changes have occurred in a family’s financial situation during the previous year.

Q: If my child enrolls at Providence Country Day School without receiving financial aid, can we apply for financial aid in subsequent years?
A: You are welcome to apply. However, there is no guarantee that an award will be made in subsequent years. In most situations, PCD makes every effort to respond to a family’s financial need, but it is unlikely that we will be able to meet your full need for several years due to budgeting restraints.

Q. If parents are divorced, who must submit financial information in order to apply for financial aid?
A: PCD requires that both the custodial and the non-custodial parent (or both co-custodial parents) complete and submit a PFS form to SSS for review. Copies of both the PFS form and the most recent federal 1040 tax returns must be sent to the Financial Aid Office.
