Providence Country Day’s Upper School is abundant with opportunities. Students are given the tools and support needed to meet high expectations for leadership both in and out of the classroom. The curriculum is rigorous and designed to prepare all students for college, with four years of rich course work available in each discipline and a wide range of AP courses. We focus great energy on the traditional disciplines as well as on the arts, and are proud of the uniqueness and depth of our approach.

Our faculty challenge students to learn not only how to answer questions but also how to translate curiosity into inquiry. As it is the close relationship between teacher and student that drives the best work we do, there are diverse opportunities for this contact to develop, including our small class size, the advisor system, extra help time and the roles many teachers assume as coaches and club advisors. As a result, Upper School students emerge as confident individuals who enliven our core values in their roles as leaders in student government, the arts, extracurricular activities, and athletics. Overall, the experience in the Upper School stresses participation, hard work and creativity. Students go forth from PCD to become engaged, skilled and well-rounded world citizens who embody the principle of "leadership and learning for life."
